First Open Studio - Artists Around Wetherby

Autumn 2020

Artists Around Wetherby - First Open Studio.

This is equally exciting and terrifying. It has taken some effort to produce a body of work whilst teaching full time. Although, I can't really call it 'work' as I enjoy it so much and it's a hobby which is now quite an obsession.

Vic, my darling husband, and my lovely sons have bought and built me a beautiful potting shed. I've chosen a seaside colour and it has lots of windows. I cannot wait to fill it with all my stuff and start making things!!

I've been mega busy producing pictures for my first Open Studio. I'm trying to remind myself that I've done this sort of thing dozens of times....but actually, this time I'm the artist and I will need to speak with lots of new people and talk about my work - which is the terrifying part.

I've spent 20 plus years, teaching Art, Design and Textiles in high schools. I've been happy as Larry to talk about my students and their work. But this is a new thing entirely.

Met lots of truly lovely people who are artists, art lovers and the curious. So great to talk to like-minded people. We are in the midst of a global pandemic. People said we were brave, putting on the Open Studios. However, I need to learn to talk about me!! Not a natural state but I can learn. I did sell some of my work, prints and cards. That was fun. I will do it again.

The 2020 artist's studio tour has been rescheduled to the 5th/6th, 12th/13th of September. You can download the brochure here.

In the meantime, you are welcome to view all the artist's works (including mine) on this Facebook page:

Collingham and Harewood Inspiration

Collingham and Harewood Inspiration. I get plenty of inspiration from the landscapes on my doorstep. I love to walk through the fields and woods near my home in Collingham. Although my photographs are amateur, I take lots because they inspire each piece of work.
